I'm a/an: Case Modder
Right now I am: Working on C5C!
I have this crazy idea for a loooong time in my head and finally I have the Hardware to do it... recently I receive some old cases and 2 of them have Dual P3 Motherboard so I'll be running 4x CPU 2x MoBos and 1x PSU. Wish me luck!!!

Here you can see one of the MoBo
Image

The plan:

The plan will consist in make a type "Y" 20 Pin Power Adapter to feed the 2 MoBos and 3 power button. One to start both Motherboard and the other two to start every Motherboard separately.

I'll use it for a future project if everything turns out ok!!!

I'll post some pictures later...!!!

What I want to accomplish:
1. Power Up 2x MoBos with 1x PSU
2. Power On/Off the 2 MoBos at the same time
3. Power On/Off the 2 Mobos individually

And will be nice to Water Cool these Old P3!!!

I think this will be a great project any help or suggestions are gladly welcome!!! :hello:

EDIT:
So I did my research like always and found this... and it cost $14.99 so that mean that I'll be saving $14.99 jejeje... :D

Image

So now I know is kind of possible to do that...!!!
Now I can move to the next part... Powering On/Off the MoBos!

Edit Again:
I just unmounted the MoBos and tracked the Manufacturer and the Model.

This project has evolve to a Case Modding Project!!!
...and the question is why?

1 Year ago I wanna a Case Mod that host 2x Motherboard... like the plan above...
but never got to do it because I was to busy doing to many stuff...!!!

The Main plan was build a Rig with 2x MoBos so I can do some Folding on them...
but I don't do folding anymore because things are getting tough here in NY... but I can stilll do Modding... so I decided to make that Project and use this 2 Old MoBos one as a Torrent Download Server and the other as a Movie Player... because I enjoy watch a good movie and bad movies too... jajaja... so I'll tell you the name of the project soon...

This wasn't planned but am glad that happens!
Now I have the chance to enter another project to the competition!!!
And most of you will see me work live from the very beginning!!!

Things that I will need for this project:
2x AGPX4 Video Card
8x PC133 512MB SDRAM Registered
4x 500GB HDD or 2x 750GB
2x 140mm Case Fan
Color Acrylic Red or Orange

More details in the main worklog!
But I'll continue with the original project too!
So stay tuned!

Another crazy idea just pop up in head!!!

I need to know if...
You have an installed MS OS on your hard drive can you run it simultaneously on 2 different pc but with the same hardware...?

I know for sure that you can run MS XP on another Computer if that computer have the same hardware specs the same goes with MS 98...

I was looking to do something more complex because power on 2x MoBos with 1x PSU was to easy... now... Can I connect one end of the IDE cable to one MoBo and the other end to the second MoBo and the Hard Drive in the middle slot...?

I think it can work if both System are turn on at the same time...!!!

But what will happen if I just turn on one PC at a time...?

Have been looking all over the web so far no luck!!!

But if my theory is right you can boot 2 PC simultaneously if they have the same hardware spec and if the HDD only have one partition... because both PC were be looking for the OS in the same Disk Sector. (This is just a theory)

I think I should post a picture!

So let me grab my camera and do what I thinking!!! Give me 3 min...!!!

Here are the pics!

In theory its an Idea but unfortunately it wont work, as each Motherboard have different System ID,s

If your looking at using Processing power of Two Computers together, then you have to look at Clustering,

wow i like the 1x PSU 2 Mobo idea but i think the 1 HDD and OS for two mobos is a no go... with the reasons that Jolly-Swagman gave and i think the reading would be all messed up in the HDD if at the same time two computers accessed it... hmmm might have to try it out myself to see tbh :p damn you mas and all these amazing ideas

He will need a massive PSU for that... because that's one of his folding beast right there...
so I think a 1000w will do the trick for him... I've never saw a dual P3 in my life I was shock when I found them I now they exist but never get the chance to put my hands on one of them so I get 2 for free from a friend... :)

I'm waiting for the picture of the "wall of hardwares" ;)
